A little more than two years ago, we decided to try moving to Spain. We were tired of the dark and boring winter months in Sweden. With two children, a fully packed car and a trailer, we set course for more southern latitudes.
However, we still had our beauty salon with employees in Sweden. We were now going to take care of it remotely and fly home regularly and with the help of the employees.
However, after about 1 year in Spain we decided that it was too hard to keep the salon. We liked living in Spain, but couldn't really start something new here as we were still tied to the business in Sweden that took time from us.
After taking some help from a business broker, we had a new buyer on the hook after only one month. in February 2022, the company was sold. In Spain we had bought a house in need of renovation and for the first year I had devoted myself almost exclusively to repainting both the inside and outside of the house (its was all in a yellow colour). Then I got tired of the uncreative painting and wanted to continue with something more challenging. My mother had given me a book named Practical Guide for Artists in which I had begun to practice the chapter on watercolors.
For a couple of months, I worked diligently to learn how to paint with this somewhat difficult technique.
I started following different artist accounts on Instagram and I created a page myself. There I became aware of various modern techniques such as fluid art, texture art, Epoxy resin crafts etc. But most of all, I got hooked on paintings made with alcohol inks.
The paintings with alcohol ink´s showed abstract art with sweeping movements in different saturated layers. Reminiscent of watercolors where depending on how much pigment you take, it creates different textures and depths. These paintings also had elements of metals such as copper, gold, and silver.
I then looked up some pigments and found a brand that looked interesting from Germany. And that's the way it is. For 10 months now I have been making different works of art using alcohol inks. But I've also tried other techniques.
